What our guests take home

4.9 / 5 · 680+ reviews

Starting on a houseboat in Srinagar and finishing at Pangong ten days later is the best way to do this, and they told us in advance exactly how long the Zoji La day would be. Crossing from the Kashmir valley into the Ladakh desert by road is the most extraordinary thing either of us has done.

Elena & Marc Dubois Lyon, France · Kashmir & Ladakh Tour — 9 Nights / 10 Days

Nine days, two passes over 5,000 m, and a night under the Hanle sky that made the whole thing worth it. They were also honest with me about how long the Changthang driving days really are — I knew exactly what I was signing up for, and it was perfect.

David Okonkwo Toronto, Canada · Ladakh Land Tour — 8 Nights / 9 Days

Turtuk was the surprise of the trip — we almost skipped it and it turned out to be our favourite day. Standing in front of the 11th-century murals at Alchi on the last day, looking at paint that went on the wall a thousand years ago, is a memory I will keep for a very long time.

Sofia Marchetti Milan, Italy · Ladakh Land Tour — 7 Nights / 8 Days

Six days was all the leave I could take and they made every one of them count. Sunrise at Pangong before the drive back over Chang La was worth the early start on its own. The driver read the group perfectly and never once made us feel rushed.

Yuki Tanaka Osaka, Japan · Himalayanz Mount Ladakh — 5 Nights / 6 Days

Two full days in Leh before anyone took us over Khardung La was the single best piece of travel advice we have ever been given. Ten days and not one wasted afternoon. Hanle at night is something neither of us will forget — the sky there is unlike anywhere else we have been.

James & Priya Whitfield London, UK · Ladakh Land Tour — 9 Nights / 10 Days

We were nervous about the altitude and they built the whole first three days around it. By Khardung La we felt completely fine. Tsering, our driver, stopped at places no itinerary mentions and knew every monk at Thiksey by name.

Good to Know

Travel questions, answered

  • May to September is the classic window — all passes open, lakes ice-free and long daylight. July and August are greenest in Nubra and busiest in Leh. For photographers and quiet roads, late May or the second half of September are our favourites. The Srinagar–Kargil leg depends on Zoji La being open, which is reliable across the same months.

  • Every itinerary is built around it. You spend your first 24–36 hours in Leh at an easy pace, then gain height gradually rather than driving straight to a high lake. Vehicles carry oxygen cylinders and a pulse oximeter, drivers are trained to spot early symptoms, and we keep a doctor on call. If anyone needs an extra rest day, we rearrange the plan — never the other way round.

  • Yes. Inner Line Permits for Nubra, Turtuk, Pangong, Tso Moriri and Hanle are arranged before you arrive, along with monastery entries and wildlife-area fees where applicable. You only need to send passport scans a week ahead.

  • Handpicked boutique properties, heritage homes and the best available camps — chosen for location, warm water, heating and food rather than star ratings. In remote valleys the honest answer is that comfort is simple; we tell you exactly what to expect for each night and offer upgrades where they genuinely exist.

  • Every trip we run is private and every published route is a starting point. Add a trek, extend Nubra, spend a second night at Pangong, swap a driving day for Tso Moriri, or build the whole thing around the Hemis festival dates — tell us what matters and we redraw the plan around it at no extra design cost.

  • Full refund of the advance up to 30 days before departure, 50% between 30 and 15 days, and no refund inside 15 days — but we always try to move your dates instead. If a road or pass closes for reasons outside anyone’s control, we reroute at no extra cost and refund any unused services.
